Fete

On the 17th July, we held our Summer Fete! Look here for photos of the day. A big thank-you to all who attended or helped out - not only did we have fun, but we raised £334!

Gift Day

Our annual gift day was held on the 4th July. Thank-you to all who gave willingly and generously to the Lord for His work in this church and in outreach. Shortly we will see the benefits of a newly fitted-out lounge downstairs, and also know that the Lord's work is benefitting in other ways.

The amount received to date is £2,255, and with Gift Aid this becomes £2,486... But there is still time for you to give if you have not already done so!

Our New Pastor!

On the penultimate weekend in May, we met Richard Matcham, his wife Rachel and two of his three children - Sam and Abi. On Saturday we shared a fellowship tea with them and were able to ask questions. On Sunday 23rd May, Richard preached 'with a view' here at Barton Baptist Church. He preached on Sunday morning and also took the evening service, which included a Bible Study. We had a wonderful weekend with them.

We then held three days of prayer, seeking God's will for our church and whether Richard is God's choice of pastor for us.

The Search Committee were unanimous in proposing that Richard should be called to be our pastor. This proposal was voted on by the membership at a Special Members' Meeting on Wednesday 26th May, and 100% of those voting agreed that Richard should be called as our new pastor.

Bruce phoned Richard during the meeting to inform him that we are calling him, and Richard accepted the call.

We understand that Richard has a busy time for the next two weeks, as he has to finish his course. The leadership are preparing for his arrival, but no start date has yet been agreed. There is much to be done over the next few months.

We thank God for his faithfulness.

Barton Baptist Church supports Linx youth work - this Summer they are running a big event in the bay:

'Elevate'

There is information both on their website, and on the notice boards in the church for practical ways in which you can help with this fantastic event, but even if you can't volunteer, you can still pray for its success!
